Q1. Does the GoKart need any maintenance?
A. Not a bit. Just charge the battery. Every now and again a bucket, sponge and soapy water doesn’t hurt either.

Q2. How long does it take to charge the battery?
A. The lead/acid battery can take about 12 hours. Lithium batteries take around two hours to recharge. These times can vary depending on how long/hilly the course, the weight of your bag. And how straight you hit it…

Q3. How long will the battery last before it needs replacing?
A.The lead/acid battery life varies quite a bit. They can need replacing between 18 months and 2 years, although many last longer than this. Lithium batteries are better. You can expect to get at least 5 years use from a lithium battery.

Q4. I don’t know whether to get the 18 or the 36 hole battery. Help!
A. Most people only need the 18 hole battery. If you frequently play 36 holes in a day you’ll need the larger battery. There’s no need to order the bigger battery ‘just in case’ thinking that you want to be sure it’ll get you round your particularly hilly/long course. The 18 hole battery will eat any course you throw at it for breakfast, and still be wagging its tail ready for more. It’s really powerful and will even do 27 on one charge with all but the heaviest of bags.

Q5. I’ve already got a golf trolley battery. Can I use it with the GoKart?
A. Yes, as long as it’s the right size, click here for more info.

Q6. Can I use ‘hedgehog wheels’?
A. We supply hedgehog wheel covers for the GoKart. They fit over your standard summer wheels. Please check your club accepts their use.

Q7. Where can I see a GoKart?
A. The GoKart is only available to buy direct from us. We designed it and manufacture it here, in the UK. If you’re not sure, you can buy one and use it for up to one month. If you don’t want to keep it we’ll collect the trolley and give you a refund with no quibbling, but you will come off our Christmas list. Click here for more details on the 28 day return.

Q8. How long do you take to deliver?
A. We usually despatch between 1 and 3 days of receiving an order (this can vary due to seasonal demand or unusual circumstances, but we’d let you know if this were to happen). Delivery is the next working day after despatch for most mainland UK addresses. For the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, off shore addresses and Ireland delivery can take one or two days longer, but if you want to live amongst the best scenery in the world, that’s the price you pay. If you have a particular deadline (birthday/holiday/forgot anniversary issue), let us know and we’ll bend over backwards, turn somersaults and triple saltos to fit in with your plans.

Q9. What if I have a problem?
A. You can call our team of technical experts who’ll work out what needs to be done to get you up and running again. If your trolley needs to come back to base for repair we can organise collection from your address. If it’s a battery or charger problem we may send you a replacement straight away. You shout, we jump.

Q10. Is it ok to take the GoKart battery on a plane?
A. For the lead/acid battery the answer is yes. In theory. It’s classified as non-hazardous, sealed and non-spillable and safe for transit by any means. However, we have heard of some airlines not accepting this, and having their own definitions. If you need to take your GoKart for a holiday, check with your airline first.
The situation with lithium batteries and planes is not so straightforward. You will definitely have to check with your airline to get the latest information.

Q11. Will any golf bag fit the GoKart?
A. Any standard cart bag will fit. ‘Pro’ style bags will fit but are designed to be carried, so the big pocket is in the wrong place for access when it’s on any trolley. The GoKart is quite stand bag friendly, but there are some stand mechanisms that require the bag to be on it’s side. The GoKart golf bag is a perfect fit ; )

Q12. Does the GoKart freewheel?
A. Yes. It freewheels in the direction it drives, so forward. This means that if you do have a problem you can still trundle the trolley in front of you.

Q13. What kind of slope can a GoKart cope with?
A. Anything you can get up without climbing gear. Seriously, we’ve tested the trolley on some really extreme courses, and it eats them all for breakfast. The reason for this is our rather muscular 230W motor, which quietly pumps iron in the garage while you’re not looking.
Q14. What if I forget my battery?
A. Mechanically there’s no reason you can’t push the GoKart along manually. This is fine on the flat or downhill, but going uphill will make you puff.

Q15. How fast does a GoKart go?
A. Fast. We haven’t put it on a running machine but at full pelt you’d need a steady jog to keep up with it. When speed golf follows the trend for speed dating etc, we’re ready for it. The motor once again is the culprit.

Q16. What’s the maximum weight a GoKart can carry?
A. We need to be more specific here. The maximum weight it can carry is two (supposedly adult) men riding on one trolley around the GoKart office. Testing was however cut short when they crashed into the photocopier. In a sensible situation on the golf course, you wouldn’t want more than about 15kgs on the trolley. We don’t say this is a maximum, but if you volunteer to carry everyone else’s stuff you will have to buy a battery more often than if you kept quiet. We leave it up to you.

Q17. Can I use a pressure washer to clean the GoKart?
A. We advise you not to. It might force water past the seals (no, not the type with flippers), and into the gubbins.
Q18. Do I have to keep holding the handle all the time and will it stop if I let go of the handle?
A. You don’t have to hold the handle all the time. Once you’re walking, if you let go, the trolley will continue running at the same speed. If you want to stop, go faster or slow down, just grab the handle again and the Automatic will change it’s speed accordingly.
Q19. Is it a remote or wireless system that detects your walking speed?
A. No. The GoKart Automatic handle has micro-switches built into it. They detect the smallest amount of pressure that you transfer through the handle as you push or pull on the grip, and adjust the motor speed to suit.
Q20. How much extra does the GoKart Automatic cost compared to the standard model?
A. £30
Q21. Can I still fit my GoKart umbrella and bottle holder to the Automatic handle?
A. You can. You might need a small modification to the umbrella holder, but we’ll supply these revised parts free of charge to all existing owners of umbrella holders that require them.
Q22. Does the GoKart Automatic affect the power consumption?
A. Yes. It uses less battery power to play 18 holes, compared to the GoKart with standard speed control. This is because it will always use the minimum amount of power to keep up with you. With the standard speed control you can be holding the trolley back without realising it.
Q23. What’s the switch for that I can see on the handle?
A. It’s an isolator switch. If you leave the trolley unattended, outside the clubhouse for example, manually moving the trolley won’t cause the motor to start. Once out on the course, this switch is not used.
Q24. Will the Automatic still work if I’m wearing gloves?
A. Yes. It makes no difference. The Automatic will work just fine.
Q25. I like to switch off down hills. Can I still do this?
A. You don’t have to. The GoKart Automatic will automatically switch off the motor when you go down hills.

Q26. Is it possible to upgrade an existing trolley?
A. Yes, but it has to come back to the factory and it involves some quite major surgery. We can arrange to collect the trolley from your home or work, bring it back to base, carry out the upgrade and return it afterwards. We take care of everything. For more information on ordering this, please click here.
Q27. Can I come to the factory to have the upgrade fitted?
A. You can by appointment only, and your trolley will be under the knife for around two hours. We will sit you down and give you a sweet cup of tea to help you get over this.
Q28. Can you send me a loan trolley while mine is being upgraded?
A. Unfortunately this isn’t possible. We suggest you organise to have your trolley collected at a time when you won’t miss it too much.
Q29. Can I trade my old trolley in for a GoKart Automatic?
A. We don’t have a trade in option, but any GoKart can be upgraded from standard to automatic.

Q30. Can the larger scorecard cover be fitted to the GoKart with standard speed control?
A. No
